Don't mow around it for another decade
A leftover stump is more than an eyesore. It's a tripping hazard, a lawnmower obstacle, an invitation to insects, and, for many species, a source of stubborn regrowth that keeps coming back.
NJ Roots grinds stumps below grade so you can seed grass over the spot, replant, or build. Whether it's one stump from an old removal or a yard full of them, we'll turn wasted corners back into usable space.

Stump Grinding, answered
Honest answers to what people ask before booking this service.
How far down do you grind?
Below grade: deep enough to cover the spot with soil and grow grass over it. If you're planning to replant or build in the same location, tell us and we'll grind deeper to suit.
Can you grind a stump from a tree someone else removed?
Of course. We grind plenty of old stumps left behind by past removals and storms.
What happens to the grindings?
Your choice: we can haul them away and backfill, or leave the mulch for you to use in beds.
